Wash-Bord original, very good year.

Hedges Washington CMS red blend 2012 photographed by Jerry Hall on Winewaves & More.
  • Hedges Washington CMS red blend 2012 is drinking perfectly well now. This is an original Wash-Bord red, having been first made in 1987. Washington ripe fruit overlays Bordeaux-like structure, acidity and complexity; hence Wash-Bord. This vintage the blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 6% Syrah. The aromas are expressive and they evolve nicely with time. Initially the aroma is like Whidbey Island's loganberry liqueur, then ripe plums, spice (cassia), coffee (roasted), and graphite/oregano earthy/herbal notes appear. The structure and acidity transport the fruit on the palate through a nice finish with dusty cocoa tannins. 13.5% ABV. Local price/750 ml: 13.
