Rodney Strong Sonoma Chardonnay 2014 on Winewaves & More.
  • "Place matters". Rodney Strong Vineyards' slogan and their devotion to Sonoma County most definitely comes through in this Chardonnay. Cheers to the late founder, dancer Rod Strong and current winemaker Rick Sayre and current owners the Klein family.
  • Rodney Strong Chardonnay 2014 opens with aromas of spiced orchard fruit and whiffs of vanilla oak. The palate is creamy and tart with tropical fruit and citrus integrated with oak and minerality. Overall this is a finely balanced Chardonnay from Sonoma with nice complexity at a great price. 13.5% ABV. Real cork. Local price/750 ml: 13.
  • The balance and complexity of this wine is teased out first by picking the grapes beginning in late August all the way through the first week in October. Once picked, sixty percent of the grapes were barrel fermented, the remainder in stainless. The barreled portion was aged 6 months in 50/50 French/American oak, 60% of that malolactic fermentation.
